For this year’s race, we partnered with the World Literacy Foundation to raise money for children’s literacy, an issue close to the hearts of Kublai Kai.

Literacy is a lifeline. More than 250 million children around the world are not learning basic reading skills—often due to a lack of access, not ability (UNESCO, 2023). A single book can open a world of opportunity and a change the trajectory of a child’s life. 

Right now, millions of children—from rural villages in Africa to underserved communities in the U.S.—are growing up without books or the support they need to learn to read and thrive.
